An ash scattering charter is different from other Pau Hana Sailing charters as the focus is on saying goodbye to your loved one. We depart from the Ala Wai Boat Harbor and head out toward Magic Island or Diamond Head depending on your preference and what backdrop is most meaningful to you. You are able to order a special ti leaf wrap for the ashes. By enclosing the ashes in a natural and biodegradable ti leaf, it makes for an easy and beautiful way to release the ashes to the Pacific Ocean. It is safe for all marinelife and prevents the sometimes powerful ash blowback that can often happen when releasing the ashes. We top our ti leaf wrap with flower petals so you can see the ash disperse along with ti leaf and flower petals in the water. After releasing the ashes, it can be beautiful to scatter additional flower petals that will float along the surface of the water as a lasting memory with the released ashes. We will mark the coordinates of where the ashes were released and provide this information to you as a lasting memory.
We are able to provide a hired private chef to provide food and beverage with your ceremony. If you prefer, bring your own food and beverage and we will provide a cooler with ice for drinks and refrigeration for the food. We are able to plate the food you bring on all reusable platters and provide reusable dishware, glasses and silverware.
A hired musician can make the day very special or we have a bluetooth sound system where we can cue up music from your phone that will be played in the front and back of the boat during the ceremony.
If you are not able to attend the service, we are able to provide an unattended memorial at sea. An unattended service is a good solution for families or individuals who are unable to attend. In this scenario, we will work with you to have the ashes sent to us and we will perform the service on your behalf. The captain for your ceremony will scatter your ashes as planned in your ceremony. We are also able to sign and provide a certificate with GPS coordinates of the scattering. We are able to work with you on your requests for music, poems or any excerpts that you would like read for the ceremony.
